Why Carpets Are Harder to Clean
Carpets trap dust, dirt, and hair deep within their fibers. Unlike hard floors where debris sits on the surface, carpets hold particles below the surface level.
This means vacuums must provide enough suction and agitation to lift debris out of the fibers.
Traditional upright vacuums often perform better on carpets because they include:
- Stronger motors
- Rotating brush rolls
- Deeper cleaning power
Robot vacuums are smaller and rely on compact motors, which means their deep-cleaning ability can be slightly lower. However, modern models have improved dramatically in recent years.
